Press release for 2009 race This year’s Barnstaple Three Bridges Fun Run was held on Sunday 10 May 2009. The race was 5.25 Km (3.25 miles) long and started at 12:00 noon on Ladies Mile, Rock Park, running around the Park over Yeo Bridge, the Taw Bridge and finally over the Long Bridge, finishing back on Ladies Mile, Rock Park. The weather was wonderful, with feedback already from the entrants via email messages: what a wonderful course, well organised and looking forward to next year’s race! The winners this year were: New this year were TEAM ENTRIES with 11 teams entering, including Appledore RNLI, Sweaty Frolics, Grumpy Gramps Mob, Perrigo, and Women’s Running Network. This year all monies raised will go to smaller local charities, who find it hard to raise funds in this financial climate where a gift of money or equipment can make such a difference to our community. The Appledore RNLI team raised £302 for themselves, the Caroline Thorpe Ward £170 and there is still sponsorship to come in. The grand total on the day was £2,171. The Barnstaple Lions Club would like to thank the following sponsors, who helped to make this day a great one. They include Marks and Spencer for sponsoring the numbers, Blue Arrow Staffing Solutions for sponsoring the medal ribbons, Blue Sky Print for all the printing of application forms and so on, the Brend Hotel Group for signage, Perrigo for sponsoring the time clock, Tarka Water for the bottled water supplied, Graham for the PA address system, and Karen Harris from Heart FM who did such a fantastic job of bringing the day together and for doing the warm up at the last minute!
